The world has become “small” and “flat.”

Financial, environmental, and health issues that occur in many parts of the world are having a significant effect on the way of life in the wealthier and more developed countries, including the USA. These effects will have a much greater impact in the coming years.

Dr. Gaziano and his colleagues have a considerable amount of experience and knowledge of cardiovascular disease in the low- and middle-income countries. They have provided a comprehensive and superb monograph on this topic. The Editorial Board members and I are grateful to them for this timely and authoritative article.
