Foreword
Article Outline
As more and more people are living longer, the number of people in the older age group is increasing markedly in developed as well as in developing countries. Cancer is common among the older/elderly population. There are several situations where cardiovascular disease and cancer are related: (1) Patients may have two common diseases, cardiovascular disease and cancer; (2) Cancer may involve the cardiovascular system; and (3) Therapeutic measures, such as drugs and radiation that are used in the treatment of cancer, may have effects on the cardiovascular system.
Drs. Yusuf, Razeghi, and Yeh are cardiologists who are also experts in this field. They have a huge clinical experience in taking care of such patients. They have prepared an excellent, comprehensive, up-to-date review that has 172 references.
The Editorial Board members and I are grateful to them for their outstanding contributions. We are also grateful to Dr. Kanu Chatterjee⁎ for his comments.
