Foreword
Article Outline
Ventricular tachycardia (VT) is a relatively common arrhythmia that is lethal if not diagnosed. An uncommon form of VT that needs to be recognized by all cardiologists is labeled “Idiopathic VT.” Idiopathic VT is seen in about 20% of patients seen at referral centers. It is more commonly seen in younger people who usually have no evident cardiovascular disease. It is very important to diagnose it correctly because its treatment is different from other forms of VT and also from those with supraventricular arrhythmia with aberration. Most importantly, catheter ablation if successful is curative.
Dr. Scheinman and his colleague Dr. Badwar have provided a superb, comprehensive review, with 103 references, that is easy to comprehend. The Editorial Board and I are grateful to Drs. Scheinman and Badwar for this excellent article.
